Great Programs for Teens
The teenager, from middle to high school, has lots of options to develop who they are and what they want to become. There are typically 4 Types of Teens and through proper programming, each teen can be brought to college preparedness with a good sense of direction AND fun.
Teen Sleepaway Camps - There are some programs that are designed for the first time camper and only accept children who are at least 12 years old. Traditional activities are offered and most often will have greater flexibility in programming and selection. Some teens are just not ready to get serious yet and want to have the chance to stay young, playful and relax from a grueling academic school year.
Pre-College Programs - There is a larger selection of enrichment and more cerebral campus based programs for the teen. Living conditions are typically in dormitories, enrichment and academic courses are offered and combined with athletics, workshops, travel and fun. For those who have completed one year of high school, the programming can be anything from enrichment to intense hands on experiences within a field of choice. Travel and Outdoor Adventure Programs - Teen tours, travel with purpose, community service, language immersion, hiking, backpacking and adventure programs can all be found at this age. Again, so crucial for the teen to be in age appropriate groups. Despite the maturity level, there is a vast difference between one in 9th and 10th grade and one finishing high school. Travel programs can be found to follow up with a campus based program to augment previous in class experience with in-the-field practicals.
Life Changing Experiences - Whether that experience be in the US or in the far reaches of the world, we can narrow down options that will met specific needs of interest, housing, location, length of time and budget (to a certain extent). True travel with purpose can change the direction of a teen to help them understand how truly lucky they are and how they can make the world a better place.
Specialty Programs - Designed to focus on a particular skill, specialty camps can be found in every field from ballet to baseball, cooking to coding, fine arts to field hockey, and every conceivable specialty you can imagine. The ability to truly develop a specific skill during the summer can be augmented throughout the school year to develop resume building credentials.
Gap Year Programs - That year between high school and college can certainly be a year of growth and exploration. It has become very popular to consider this as an option for so many reasons. If you are prepared to explore this option, we have vetted many programs around the world that offer expansive programs in safe, secure and age appropriate environments.
Special Needs – As many know, the earlier identification and intervention occurs, the better able your child will be to manage their specific needs. And being at the right camp is so important. Regardless of the diagnosis (ADD, ADHD, AS, HFA, LD, and PDD-NOS) or if your child is just having trouble fitting in, we can help find the right summer experience that will empower your child. And all of our conversations are confidential.
